James M. Bowling, IV is an experienced litigator who handles complex cases in state and federal courts throughout Virginia, often representing governmental entities, their employees, and business and non-profit entities against individuals and administrative agencies.
Over his thirty-seven years of practice, Mr. Bowling has represented a number of counties, cities, towns, and school boards. His current clients include the Virginia Department of Transportation, Virginia’s risk management program for local governments and governmental officials and employees, several water and sewer authorities, and a number of counties, towns, and governmental officials and employees in Virginia.
As a result of this experience, Mr. Bowling also advises and represents business and individual landowners in real estate and other tax disputes with local and state governmental agencies.
Mr. Bowling also represents clients in complex business transactions. He advises in the formation and operation of corporations and limited liability companies as well as helping business owners and individuals in employment disputes and litigation.
Mr. Bowling currently represents a large number of community associations. He also advises clients concerning real estate development, especially condominium and other residential community development, having created the organizational documents for over fifty condominium, mixed use, and residential projects, including many of the largest condominium projects in the area.
He also has a busy trust and estate planning practice involving the drafting of wills and trusts and estate administration and litigation.
